He just found out that Newcastle are after him!

Roy Keane has joked that Cristiano Ronaldo’s shocked look during Portugal’s win over Ghana was due to Newcastle transfer rumors.

The 37-year-old is a free agent who mutually agreed to leave the Red Devils effective immediately, following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Since then there has been much speculation as to where his future might lie, with suggestions that Newcastle could be a destination.

Manchester United legend Keane couldn’t help but joke about the situation.

“Look at Ronaldo’s face, my God. Honestly, he just got a call from Newcastle,” Keane said speaking on ITV Sport.

Ronaldo, who had previously been substituted, was reacting to a mistake by goalkeeper Diogo Costa, which fortunately for him did not lead to a Ghanaian goal.

The goalkeeper placed the ball on the ground and did not realize that Athletic Bilbao striker Iñaki Williams was on the prowl.

Williams ended up sliding, before the ball was stopped on the line by a Portuguese defender.

Portugal managed to secure a 3-2 win late on, with Ronaldo opening the scoring from the penalty spot on 65 minutes.

At net, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner became the only player to score in five World Cups.

Andre Ayew then equalized for Ghana, but goals from Joao Felix and Rafael Leao gave the Portuguese a two-goal lead.

Osman Bukhari scored late for Ghana, before Williams missed, as Portugal held on.
