One of the best things about the HD generation that started with Xbox 360 and PS3 is that online connectivity was more stable. Playing online with friends was possible years before these two consoles, but system integration finally seemed to take a step forward. Things have gotten even better since then with the PS5 and Xbox series consoles offering some truly imaginative ways for players to team up.
Cross-play between consoles and PC is even possible now, with many games offering drop-in and drop-out co-op as well. Busy gamers on the go may not have enough time to devote to giant sessions, which is why PS4 and PS5 owners should consider trying out these fantastic games with drop-in and drop-out multiplayer modes.
8/8 fate 2
fate 2 offers players a wide variety of multiplayer options. The main co-op mode revolves around Strikes, which are made up of three-person teams taking on story missions. The first game had this offer as well, but now it’s almost impossible to go back to that experience.
fate 2 it’s platform now and it’s unclear if Bungie will ever make a true sequel or just keep producing expansions. It’s a tough series to get into now, as a lot of the content has disappeared with the updates, but the co-op is still stellar regardless.
7/8 elden ring
elden ring is the latest Soulslike experience released by FromSoftware. It took 2022 by storm, with the game dominating the sales charts for months after its release. Once the DLC is released, probably in 2023, the player base will likely jump back into this dominant world once more.
It’s a brutal experience going in alone, but it becomes a bit more manageable if players invite a friend or two to join online. Friends are the most important thing when it comes to defeating bosses in the game, as they are some of the toughest in the series to date.
6/8 final fantasy 14
There are some focused on the cooperative Final Fantasy games that players could jump into. For example, Stranger from Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin allows up to three players to team up for Soulslike RPG-like online dungeon crawling hack and slash action. It’s a fun ride from early 2022, but it’s far from the best in the series.
final fantasy 14, on the other hand, has remained a solid game since it was re-released in 2013. The wealth of content just keeps getting better, whether played alone or grouped up in groups of eight for epic boss fights. I like it fate 2It might be hard to get into the game right now, but final fantasy 14 it is the MMO that continues to give thanks to the incredible expansions.
Trip is one of those games that is an essential experience to tackle. There have been silent walking sims ever since, but Trip it was like a revelation. Players can wander through this short game on their own, but the real magic is in interacting with another explorer online.
The best part is that this person remained anonymous. All players can do is yell small gestures at their companions to communicate, which helps create a more unique dynamic between players and the game is still fun to tackle from time to time years later.
4/8 Monster Hunter: World
Monster Hunter: World is the ultimate multiplayer experience that demands cooperative play. The series is essentially a series of boss battles in which players must kill beasts to harvest their parts. These parts are randomized, which means that players may need to fight a certain enemy multiple times to obtain a certain item for crafting purposes.
Teaming up with up to three other players online can help make these repetitive battles less tedious. This entry is great for new players to the series as it helped simplify a lot of gameplay mechanics and the world is much more open than ever before.
3/8 resident evil 5
resident evil 5 it was the first mainline title in the series to feature a cooperative campaign. Help from a friend meant it was a less scary experience as players were no longer alone. This also meant that taking down enemies and bosses was easier with the extra help.
It was more of an action game than ever thanks to co-op, which took the franchise in a direction not to the liking of all fans. Still, like it or not, the cooperative gameplay is more than solid both online and offline.
2/8 Sackboy: A Great Adventure
Sackboy: A Great Adventure it is the last game in the little big planet Serie. It is a more traditional top-down platformer than previous entries in the series that were primarily 2D. The game also removed the experience creation tools, focusing instead on in-game content.
Little Big Planet 3 is available to play on both PS4 and PS5, though for those who still want to create their own levels. Both games are fun for the whole family, up to four, and each supports couch co-op and online play.
1/8 Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 It’s a similar experience fate 2 in that he is a looter shooter. How big he made the first game over the first Destiny it was cooperative for four players. He was also a third person cover shooter instead of a first person shooter. Finally, the first game created a seamless world set in New York City instead of giving players multiple planets to roam.
The sequel is set in the Washington DC area and has expanded from there with content packs. The first game may be better, but presumably it will be harder to get a game to work since it’s older and Ubisoft doesn’t support it these days.
